The Goat's Beard, Manayunk, PA

The Goat's BeardGreat lunch with Michael and Jessica during our visit this summer to her new city.  We lunched at The Goat's Beard, a quaint modern restaurant offering bold, sustainable American small plates.  I enjoyed the Grilled Ceasar Salad with white anchovies with crispy chickpeas, egg and parmesan.   Michael devoured the mac & cheese made with gnocchi, asiago and cheddar cheese and Jess had the Mussels in white wine with bacon, tomato, garlic confit cilantro and herbed fries.  All was delicious!  Our server was very attentive and full of enthusiasm.  I inquired about the name of the restaurant and learned that Goat's Beard is a robust perennial flower native to Pennsylvania that produces a plume of fluffy white to cream flower clusters.
