For dinner we celebrated Michael's birthday at Prime Restaurant. Michael chose the Halibut for his entree and I chose the Zarzuela de Mariscos that featured clams, mussels, shrimp, lobster, fresh fish, King crab, chorizo and saffron-tomato broth.38 Our salads were delicious with mixed greens and strawberries.
That evening we headed up to our rooftop bar and enjoyed the beautiful view of the city. We met a pleasant young couple who announced to us that they were expecting a baby! Cause for celebration!
The next morning after breakfast, we continued our trip to Nashville. We arrived early so we checked our luggage and headed to the hotel restaurant near the pool for lunch. We spent the day exploring the town past numerous Honky Tonk bars and tour wagons of partying young men and women.
We had lunch at City Tap House.
Our favorite meal was at the famous Martins BBQ. I chose the beef brisket served over a baked potato and Michael chose the ribs. Both delicious!
We spend one day relaxing by the pool on a beautiful 90 degree day. That evening we took a walk to J.L. Marriott soaring 33 floors above the city with a spectacular view of the skyline. We met Dylan Campbell, son of Glen Campbell while we enjoyed a cocktail together in the poolside bar.
We enjoyed the hop on hop off trolley tour of Nashville featuring attractions including: Music Row, Country Music Hall of Fame, Antique Archeology, Centennial Park with the Parthenon, Vanderbilt University, the Famous Hot Chicken Restaurant, Ryman Theatre and many others.
On our return trip we stopped in Louisville at the Kentucky Derby Museum where we toured Churchill Downs. Then on to Cincinnati before heading home.
What a wonderful road trip!
