Bella Frutteto, Wexford, PA
Enjoyed lunch with a friend at a restaurant in Wexford that she recommended and what a treat! We both savored the salad of mixed greens with prosciutto, roasted figs, walnuts, goat cheese and red onions tossed in a wonderful balsamic vinaigrette. The menu consists of many creative appetizers such as apple ravioli and apple bruschetta. The pastas include a chicken breast stuffed with Italian sausage and mozzarella cheese, fried golden brown and served with a tomato cream sauce tossed with linguini; Another is a seafood bake with shrimp, scallops, and jumbo lump crabmeat tossed with a radiatore pasta and a pink vodka sauce. A bonus is that it's located across from Soergel Orchards, a family farm market where I purchased some donut peaches, watercress, eggplant and two wonderful cheeses: a French Brie and a double Gloucester.
